The funds were allocated from the state budget reserve fund for the urgent needs of combat brigades.
In total, the government allocated UAH 657 million to the Ministry of Defence (including UAH 10.7 million to the State Special Transport Service). Separately, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine was allocated UAH 10.524 million.
Where the money will be spent
The money is to be spent on the purchase of equipment and weapons, optical and thermal imaging devices, communications equipment, ammunition production, repair and maintenance of equipment, as well as spare and component parts.
Which units will receive them
According to the approach of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the funds allocated by the Cabinet of Ministers are distributed as follows: from UAH 1 to 10 million to each brigade according to the following principles
priority is given to military units directly involved in combat operations;
the organisational structure and number of personnel are taken into account (conditionally, more for infantry and less for pilots, as aircraft are serviced centrally).
Currently, the Ministry of Defence is waiting for the needs of each military unit to be formed, after which the General Staff will summarise the calculations. Then the Ministry of Defence will prepare a request to the Ministry of Finance, after which the funds will be sent to the Ministry of Defence and sent to the military units.
"The allocation of funds from the reserve fund is due to changes in the administration of the military personal income tax in 2024. From now on, 10% of the part of the military personal income tax that is credited to the state budget will be automatically returned to military units in proportion to the amount paid.
