Plot summary

One night, he is attacked by a squad of hitmen, but he manages to kill them all and escape. He realizes that someone has put a hit on him and decides to protect Sarah, who he believes is also in danger. He kidnaps her and takes her to his former mentor Joe Matheson (Morgan Freeman), who lives in a retirement home. Joe tells him that the hitmen were using bullets that are only available to CIA agents, and that someone is killing people connected to a secret mission in Guatemala in 1981.
Frank then contacts another former colleague, Marvin Boggs (John Malkovich), who is paranoid and lives in an underground bunker. Marvin tells him that the mission involved extracting a person named Alexander Dunning (Richard Dreyfuss) from Guatemala, who was involved in illegal arms dealing.
